FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America. Our chapter is
comprised of former and current Business Education students. Business
Education classes include: Introduction to Business Computer
Applications, Business Computer Applications, Financial Math, Business
English, and Accounting.
During the year, we compete in business related events such as Computer
Applications, Economics, Public Speaking, Parliamentary Procedure, Word
Processing, Accounting, and many more subject areas. Competitions begin
at the district level with qualifiers competing at the state level. Live
Oak High has had the largest chapter in the state three times in the last
four years. We also had four members qualify for nationals in Nashville,
Tennessee. This year, nationals will be held in Chicago, Illinois!
Mission
Our mission is to bring business and education together in a positive
working relationship through innovative leadership and career development.
Community Service
Our chapter is very involved in our community. In the past, we have been
a part of the Livingston Parish Anti-Litter Committee. We adopted a
street, and worked to keep it clean. Our chapter also collects toys for
needy children at Christmas. We try to participate in a school
improvement project each year. During the 2005-2006 school year, we
registered the Live Oak trees around campus with the Louisiana Live Oak
Society. The large tree by the gym was named “Eagle Pride,” and there is
a new marker designating it as a “Centurion Oak.” The tree closest to the
cafeteria was named “Eagle Loyalty,” and the oak in the center of the
front grounds was named “Eagle Honor.” We provided 75% of the funding for
the “Home of the Eagles” sign on the outside of the front gym, and
purchased a basketball sign for inside of the gym.
